Demonstration site. Woodside Management Partners, LLC is a fictional business invented for this demo — every phone number on it is literally 000-000-0000. The website itself is entirely real and built exactly as yours would be.

Why this design works for a business consultancy

Built for how your customers actually decide

Every consultancy website says the same four things: experienced, trusted, partner, results. This one is built the other way round — it publishes the day rate on the home page, prints the multiplication behind every fee, and gives a whole page to the work the firm will NOT do and who it sends you to instead. That combination is unusual enough to be the thing a visitor remembers, and it is the reason the enquiries that arrive are already half-qualified.

Seven practice areas, twelve engagements. Each engagement carries a number of chargeable days, one of three published day rates, the elapsed weeks it runs over (always longer than the days, which is the honest bit), what happens in the first week and what the client is holding at the end. Nothing on the site types a fee: every figure is the rate times the days, computed, so it cannot drift out of step with the price list.

Then the assessment, which is what makes this design earn its keep. Twelve questions about facts an owner already knows — what last week went on, where the revenue came from, what has stopped working — with two of them chosen from the earlier answers, so a four-person business and a forty-person business are not asked the same thing. At the end it names two or three areas the answers point at, in the firm’s own vocabulary, maps each to the engagement that addresses it, and only THEN asks for a name and an e-mail. What lands in your inbox is a summary of the business, not a blank message box.

  • The price is on the website, with the working shown

A partner day, a blended day and a consultant day, printed. Then every engagement as “six to ten days at the partner day” with the two figures multiplied in front of the reader. Almost nobody in this trade does it, and the page that explains why is the one people send to each other.

  • The assessment qualifies the lead before you spend a minute on it

Twelve branching questions, a structured result, then the contact details — in that order, so the visitor has been given something before being asked for anything. The e-mail that reaches you carries every answer and the summary they saw.

  • It is not a score, and it says so on every screen

No grade, no percentage, no comparison with other businesses, no figures at all. It is labelled an indicative self-assessment and not professional advice on every step, in the result, and in the copy that gets e-mailed — which is what makes it usable by a real firm rather than a gimmick.

  • A boundary page instead of a disclaimer

Six kinds of work the firm refuses, each naming the profession it belongs to. For a consultancy, an accountant, a lawyer or any adviser whose clients ask for things next door to what they sell, it is the most persuasive page on the site.

  • No stock handshakes anywhere in it

The photography is empty meeting rooms, a workshop floor, a stockroom aisle, a loading bay, a kitchen after service — the places the work actually happens. No boardroom, no skyline, no two people shaking hands over a desk.

Mobile first, not mobile afterthought

Most of your visitors will see this version

Local service searches are overwhelmingly done on phones, so the phone layout is the one we design first and test hardest. Text stays readable without zooming, the phone number stays reachable with a thumb, and nothing needs a horizontal scroll.

Every page, listed

What is actually on the site

45 indexable pages, each with its own title, description, structured data and a place in the sitemap. That is 45 chances to appear in a search instead of one.

The offer — seven practice areas, twelve engagements

  • Strategy · Operations · People and hiring · Sales and growth · Systems · Margin · Owner succession
  • Every engagement priced as days × a published day rate, with the multiplication printed on the page
  • Chargeable days AND elapsed weeks quoted separately, because they are different numbers
  • A retainer with its own arithmetic shown against the day rate it is cheaper than
  • Service structured data generated from the same source as the price list

The assessment

  • Twelve questions, of which two change depending on earlier answers
  • Nothing leaves the visitor’s browser until they choose to send it
  • A result naming two or three areas and the engagement that addresses each — never a score
  • Resumable: the answers survive a closed tab, and the link can be sent to a business partner
  • Works with JavaScript switched off, as a plain form posting to the same endpoint
  • The lead arrives as an e-mail with the full answers and the summary in it

The pages that win the enquiry

  • What we do not do, and who we send you to — six boundaries, each naming another profession
  • Why we publish our rates · What a consultant cannot do · When not to hire us
  • How a piece of work is judged · Working with your accountant and your attorney
  • Confidentiality · House policies · What the assessment does not know

Proof, writing and the rest

  • Four worked examples, each an illustrative composite with no client named
  • Four long articles — the SEO engine and the credibility in one
  • Seven industries with what is specific about each · The team · Careers · Press
  • How an engagement runs · The first meeting · FAQ · Contact · Hours · Access · Terms · Privacy

What $500 covers

Yours, not a copy of the demo

You get the same structure and design system with your business in it — your name, logo, colours, photographs, services, prices and locations, and every page rewritten for you. Two businesses starting from this design do not end up looking like each other.

Pages you do not need come out. Pages you need that are not there can be added at $90 each. The local SEO — titles, descriptions, structured data and the copy itself — is retargeted from Woodside to wherever you actually work.

Who this suits

A good fit if you run one of these

  • Management, operations and strategy consultancies
  • Independent advisers and small professional firms selling days rather than products
  • Accountants, bookkeepers and lawyers who want a qualifying questionnaire on the front of the enquiry
  • Any service business whose customers ask “how much” before they ask anything else
  • Coaches, trainers and agencies that currently get one-line enquiries and have to telephone to find out what they mean

Not quite your trade? Designs adapt more easily than people expect — the structure matters far more than the industry it was written for. Tell us what you do and we will say honestly whether this one fits.

Questions

About this design

Our services are not days and rates.

The shape is a list of things you sell, each with a unit, a quantity range and an elapsed time — which fits a day rate, a fixed project fee, a monthly retainer or a price per unit of work. The site computes every figure from the unit price rather than storing it, so changing the rate changes every page, the price list and the structured data at once.

Can the assessment ask our questions instead?

Yes — the questions, the options, the branching rules and the wording of every result live in one file as data, not code. The same file feeds the browser and the server, so the two can never disagree about what an answer means. Rewriting it for your trade is content work rather than development.

Could it produce a quote or an estimate rather than a summary?

That is the same machinery pointed at a different output, and it is the natural version for a trade: the questions ask about the job and the result is an indicative scope with a range against it. It has to be labelled indicative and it has to be honest about what it cannot know, which is how the demo’s version is written.

Where do the enquiries go?

One small PHP endpoint on the same hosting. It writes the lead to a file BEFORE it sends anything, so a slow mail server cannot lose one, then e-mails you the full answers and, if the visitor asked for it, e-mails them a copy. No database, no third-party form service, no monthly fee, and nobody else holding your enquiries.

Do we have to publish our rates?

No. The design works with the numbers taken out and the engagement shapes left in, and plenty of firms will want that. But the demo argues for publishing them at some length, and the argument is worth reading before deciding — it is on the page called “why we publish our rates”.

Is the video on the home page included?

Yes. The header loop is generated for your firm the same way the photographs are, and it sits behind a still poster so it costs nothing in page speed — the poster is what the browser measures, and the loop starts after it.
